Daniel Negreanu, one of the most recognisable figures in professional poker, has joined prediction market operator Kalshi as its newest high-profile partner.
Known in the poker world as “KidPoker,” Negreanu, a 2014 Poker Hall of Fame inductee, is already an ambassador for GGPoker and will now also represent Kalshi.
Unlike traditional sportsbooks, Kalshi operates legally in all 50 US states and, according to the company, has reported more than a million users with over $2bn in sports trades executed.
Negreanu told PokerNews in an exclusive interview: “I’m stoked because I’ve sort of been holding this for a while because I’ve been playing on Kalshi for quite a while.”
To mark the start of the partnership, Negreanu announced a promotional giveaway tied to the upcoming WSOP Paradise festival.
One follower will receive a $30,000 package that includes a $26,000 entry into the Super Main Event, along with nine nights at the Atlantis Royal.
Anyone who signs up to Kalshi using the code “DNEGS” will be entered into the draw, and those depositing $100 will also receive a $40 bonus, subject to terms and conditions.
Negreanu said he had been using Kalshi privately for some time and was enthusiastic about making his involvement public.
He emphasised the platform’s broad appeal, noting that poker players often enjoy side bets and proposition wagers on unusual outcomes, something prediction markets are designed to facilitate.
As part of the collaboration, Negreanu will be streaming his progress in the final stage of the GGPoker WSOP Online Series, integrating Kalshi into his content.
This will give his audience a first-hand look at how the platform functions and the types of markets available.
Kalshi ready to hit all possible markets
Kalshi’s decision to align with Negreanu, who has seven World Series of Poker and two World Poker Tour titles, reflects a pragmatic strategy to expand its reach into the poker community, where betting and speculation are already culturally ingrained.
The move combines the traditional world of poker tournaments with the fast-growing sector of regulated prediction markets.
By leveraging Negreanu’s global following, Kalshi aims to both educate and attract users who may not have previously engaged with prediction trading.
The partnership arrives at a time when alternative wagering platforms are gaining traction in the US.
Unlike standard sports betting operators, prediction markets offer participants the ability to take positions on real-world events, from economic indicators to cultural milestones.
With Negreanu’s endorsement, Kalshi is positioning itself to capitalise on the crossover between poker enthusiasts and prediction market traders.
While Kalshi does not currently offer poker-specific markets, he suggested this could evolve in the future with his input, although nothing has been confirmed.
Negreanu told PokerNews: “What do poker players like to do? We like to make prop bets on a wide variety of different goofy markets that we come up with, right? And there’s a whole bunch here, and you know, maybe in the future, there’s nothing up there right now on this, but one of the things I thought about was where we discussed maybe some cool poker markets, right?”
While poker may not yet be included, other new markets are. Kalshi has expanded its platform by self-certifying a range of new event contracts this week, adding diversity to its prediction markets.
The new listings cover areas spanning politics, culture, and finance, with markets such as who could appear on Eurovision, football player statistics, weather-related events, and more.
